A Bump in the Road

We had a routine visit with the cardiologist today and there seems to be a small problem. It looks like some scar tissue has built up, obstructing a major artery, which will require prompt attention.

On Tuesday we are headed down to CHOP where Abby will get a catheterization, just like in February. Once in, they will either blast apart the scar tissue to open up the artery, or if that isn't possible, put in a stent as a last resort. She should only have to spend one night in the hospital.

The cardiologist says this isn't an emergency, but it is putting excess stress on the right side of her heart, so it needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Even though a cath isn't as major as the open heart surgeries she's had before, there is still some risk. Pleas keep Abby in your thoughts and prayers on Tuesday!

I'll keep you all updated.
