She Started Eating

Abby is a total rock star. All the doctors cannot believe how quickly she is progressing. They put in a feeding tube and started giving her a continuous drip of pumped milk that they will slowly increase over time. So far she is tolerating it well, but they decided not to increase it too quickly, since there is really no reason to push it. It will probably still be awhile before they try a bottle with her.

They took the dressings off her incision today and also removed some monitoring lines from her heart. This means we're one step closer to being able to hold her!

The only concern we're having right now is that she having some irregular heart rate incidents. The nurses said that it is fairly common after surgery because her electrolytes are off. So for now they are monitoring her blood gases and replacing her electrolytes, but she may require some medication to get it under control.

Bryan and I are doing well, but really starting to miss Anna. We're going to try to spend tomorrow afternoon with her. Our friends Chris and Chez live near the hospital and have been so incredibly generous as to let us stay at their house. We couldn't be more thankful for their generosity.

Keep up all the good thoughts and prayers! They're definitely working!
