No More Feeding Tube

They removed Abby's feeding tube yesterday and we couldn't be more thrilled! After our class on how to insert it, we were really hoping she'd prove she didn't need it. Just like her sister and her cousins, she is a champion eater and is now taking all her feedings by mouth. Yay!
We are waiting on a bed to open up in the step-down unit so we can leave the CICU. The doctors feel she is ready to try less restrictive monitoring to see if she is ready to head home soon. I sure hope so! We spent the day at home in NJ visiting with Anna yesterday. We miss her so much, we really can't wait for our whole family to be in one place. She loves my parents though! So much, that she has started treating them how she treats us. Throwing food, early morning wake ups, tantrums, and even giving hugs. Being away from Anna so long has by far been the hardest part of this journey.
Abby continues to have a type of rhythm problem called ectopy. They are watching it closely, and although it definitely freaks me out, the doctors do not seem all that concerned about it at this point. Right now, I think the ectopy is the only thing really keeping Abby in the hospital.
We have nothing exciting planned for New Years, but I hope you all go out and do something fun and that you all have a safe and happy New Year!

Wow, she is going so great! How exciting!! I can't imagine how you feel being away from Anna, but it sounds like its much harder on you than her. Can't wait to see the title she going home, it sounds like it will be soon.

Hi there! First time checking the website since Abby's birth. Congratulation! I'm so excited for you & Bryan, and I'm so glad to hear she is doing so well. She must have her mother's strength. Hope you're recovering well, Ali and that Anna is handling all the changes in her life well. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs and kisses to all of you (esp. Abby).
